Luca Signoretti palaa toukokuussa Suomeen, jolloin työskentely jatkuu. Lue lisää koreografin mietteitä alta:
”My journey in Helsinki has been a deeply beautiful and creative experience with the dancers of the Susanna Leinonen Company.
It has been an intense process, especially for the dancers, who had to learn 40 minutes of material in just 10 days. From the very beginning, they brought an incredible level of creativity and commitment. This inspired me to adapt the material together with them, allowing it to become more personal, more alive, and truly connected to each individual performer.
What I always find fascinating in revisiting a piece is how it evolves, how it takes on new forms, a new energy, and often an even deeper meaning. The original ideas I had during the first creation transform into something richer through the dancers’ interpretations, making the work feel renewed and expanded.
After completing the teaching phase, we dedicated the final week to recreating, experimenting with transitions, and refining the structure. This part of the process was both playful and challenging, requiring curiosity, flexibility, and constant problem-solving from all of us.
The dancers were incredibly strong not only technically, but also in their performance. As the piece requires a strong sense of acting and presence, I was particularly impressed by their maturity and their ability to deliver with depth and emotional impact, and they were extremely open to find solutions and changes to support the vision of the piece.
Throughout these three weeks I have been assisted by the wonderful Filippo Buonamassa. I truly could not have achieved this process without him. His contribution went far beyond assistance with his ideas, sensitivity, and constant engagement enriched both the creative process and the dancers’ experience. His morning warm-ups were thoughtful and grounding, providing the dancers with a strong and supportive start to each day.
As for the city, I unfortunately didn’t have much time to explore Helsinki. However, I was still able to feel its atmosphere. In some ways, it reminded me of Switzerland, quite reserved at first, yet genuinely warm and friendly once a connection is made.” -Luca Signoretti
