And the Line Begins to Blur

“I was dumb- struck by the performance – how could it be so amazing? And the Line Begins to Blur is a highly polished vigorous work, in which all the parts are in just the right place.”

And the Line Begins to Blur is a new version of Leinonen’s work fragile | entity, which was commissioned by Skånes Dansteater in 2008. And the Line Begins to Blur deals with the interfaces of humanity. Growing tensions between the individual and the community and the visual characteristics of the piece refer to both past and the future, creating a powerful and surreal world where brutal beauty meets the dark outlook on life.

Financially supported by National Council for Dance, the Finnish Cultural Foundation and City of Helsinki

“Susanna Leinonen’s And the line begins to blur is a breathtakingly beautiful and harmonious piece. All of its elements holistically complement the same themes, atmosphere and visions. — The work doesn’t peter out towards the end, rather the spectator is in the middle of an intense event from start to finish. Quality is most definitely not a synonym of quantity.”

– Dance Magazine (2009)

“Susanna Leinosen ensi-ilta on aina Tapaus. Hänen dream teamiltään voi odottaa aitoa kokonaistaideteosta. Hyvät uutiset: tämä on ehkä parasta, mitä olen nähnyt Leinosen Companylta. Ja ne huonot: puolen tunnin kestossaan se tuntuu melkein liian lyhyeltä! And the Line Begins to Blur on huippuunsa hiottu napakka paketti, jossa kaikki tekijät ovat nyt kohdallaan.“
