SLC to perform at Dance Salad Festival in Houston, USA

Susanna Leinonen Company has been invited to perform at the renowned Dance Salad Festival in Houston, USA. The company will be premiering a shortened and curated version of Susanna Leinonen’s latest choreography Nasty. This new 30-minute piece is called Shame/less and it will be performed at Wortham Center’s Cullen Theater on April 18-20.

Nasty, which premiered in September 2018, has so far been one of the company’s biggest success stories: praised by critics and audiences alike, in the four months after its premiere the piece has already been seen by more than 3500 people in three countries. Nasty is currently on a Finnish tour covering five cities.

The Dance Salad Festival, which will be organised in Houston, Texas for the 24th time in 2019, is one of the most notable dance festivals in Southern USA, specialising in both contemporary dance and ballet. Each year the festival presents a curated selection of works by both big names – such as NDT, Bolshoi Ballet, Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui – and emerging choreographers. Susanna Leinonen’s works have been invited to the festival two times in the past: Trickle, Green Oak performed by the Finnish National Ballet in 2004, and Touch of Gravity and Romeo & Juliet in 2017.
