Jouka Valkama

Jouka Valkama graduated from the Ballet School of the Finnish National Opera in 1995, and after that he made a contract with the Finnish National Ballet. He has danced both solo roles and in corps de ballet in various classical ballets. In addition, he has danced in numerous works of contemporary choreographers including Mats Ek, Jirí Kylián, Ohad Naharin, Itzik Galil, Jorma Uotinen, Tero Saarinen, Susanna Leinonen, Tommi Kitti, Kenneth Kvarnström, Jarkko Mandelin, Glen Tetley, Marilena Fontoura and Sami Saikkonen. Valkama has also made several choreographies for the Finnish National Ballet. Jouka Valkama has been awarded Pro Dance Prize by the Finnish Ministry of Education and Culture and nationally prestiged Philip Morris award Tanssin kukan Nuppu.
