Susanna Leinonen Company brings a three-day programme, BODY TALKS, to Aleksanterin teatteri.
Susanna Leinonen’s internationally acclaimed work Nasty examines the expectations, attacks and hatred directed at women’s bodies. Its powerful message and strong movement language are complemented by a bold panel discussion that challenges structures of power.
The panel will feature, among others, Member of Parliament Fatim Diarra and Miro Olsoni, founding member of the Jäbät & Tunteet community.
Friday’s club night Dance with the Dancers breaks the conventional idea of a dance performance. The stage, auditorium, foyer and lobby of Aleksanterin teatteri will transform into a unique club space. This anniversary-year remix invites the dancers of Susanna Leinonen Company to create an immersive environment that pulls the audience in. The energy of the evening will be driven by an incredible DJ, keeping the atmosphere high. Come alone or with friends, and immerse yourself in movement and the bar atmosphere. A breathtaking night is promised until the very end.
Leinonen’s newest work Pain Killer explores physical and emotional pain. How does avoiding pain and emotions shape us, and how is this ultimately reflected in society as a whole? The experimental soundscape by rap artist Kasperi Laine pulses from delicate to powerful, highlighting the physicality of the dancers. The introduction to the work opens up its themes and artistic process from a broader perspective.
